Urgent lift works to start very soon

The Council have informed WERA that urgent remedial works to six of the estate's fourteen passenger lifts are planned to start very soon.

The urgent remedial works are to lifts H5 and H6 in Ashburnham Tower, lifts H7 and H8 in Dartrey Tower, lift H12 in Chelsea Reach Tower and lift H2 in Greaves Tower.

Works to lift H6 in Ashburnham Tower and lift H7 in Dartrey Tower are expected to start on the 10th of November 2025. The works are expected to take five weeks and should be finished before the Christmas Holidays.

Works to the remaining four lifts (H5, H8, H12 and H2) will then take place after Christmas, beginning in the New Year.

These six lifts are the most unreliable on the estate, currently spending much of the time, if not most of the time, out of service. The Council hopes the urgent remedial works will significantly improve their reliability.

Full refurbishment works to all fourteen of the estate's passenger lifts are currently in the early planning stages. The Council currently expects those works to start some time in late 2026 at the very earliest.
