UPDATED: Door Entry System Trial

Estate Management

The TMO will shortly be running a trial during which the estate's door entry system will be switched off during the caretaker's working hours. This will enable the estate's caretakers to concentrate on their regular duties and, it is hoped, increase the amount of work they can carry out on the estate.

Updates are in RED and dated.

The TMO approached the World's End Residents Association in January and advised the Association's Committee that a resident had proposed that the TMO disable the door-entry system during the caretaker's working hours so as to free the caretakers from the task of manning the door-entry system.

Following a period of discussion the Committee agreed to the proposal at its meeting in February on the basis that the TMO first run a three-month trial to prove that disabling the door-entry system during the caretaker's working hours would not have a detrimental effect on the estate's overall security.

The estate's CCTV cameras would continue to function as normal throughout the trial period.

The TMO were then asked to consult and notify the estate's residents before running the trial in the Spring.

The Committee insisted that the trial be monitored closely by the Police's Safer Neighbourhood team and the TMO, and that the system be re-enabled immediately should either a large number of residents object to the trial or the Police recommend that it end.

The TMO have now advised that the three month trial will being shortly and that it is intended to run from the beginning of May until the end of July.

Should you have any views or concerns with regards to the trial please contact the TMO staff at the Blantyre Centre. A final decision on whether to proceed with the trial or not will be taken at the beginning of May based on the feedback from residents.

Trial Delayed (26/4/2011)

Following feedback from residents the start of the trial has been delayed. A public meeting will be held before there is any further suggestion of running a trial.

Public Meeting Announced (9/5/2011)

The TMO have announced that they will be holding a Public Meeting to discuss the proposed trial, answer residents' questions and address residents' concerns. The meeting is planned to take place on the evening of the 24th of May, at 7.30pm in the WERA Clubroom, 16 Blantyre Street. All households should receive written notification of the meeting shortly. All residents are encouraged to attend.
