The World's End Estate

Cremorne Gardens still under threat

Information

In January, more than 1,000 local residents signed a petition to save a green space created as part of the World's End Estate, Cremorne Gardens, from use as an access road to the Thames Tideway Tunnel (the ''Super Sewer'') by Thames Water during the tunnel's construction.

Instead, Thames Water could use the former recycling centre owned by the Council which is closer to the proposed project. Thames Water representative Phil Stride stated, "We are happy to work with the council to use whatever access route they can help us find."

However, Cremorne Gardens is still listed as the preferred site for the project on the Thames Water website in spite of promises made by Conservative Ward Councillors during last September's by-election campaign.
