Chickenshed present: Once The Word Was Here

Entertainment

Chickenshed Kensington and Chelsea Adult and Youth Theatre groups have created an exciting new production called Once The Word Was Here, and will be performing their piece at the Chelsea Theatre on Tuesday 1 April and Wednesday 2 April.

Drawing from Orwellian themes, the storyline is a dark vision of a totalitarian future. Love, freedom and thought are oppressed by tyranny and fear and fight to survive in a world where power and control rule.

Working with the Chickenshed Kensington and Chelsea Artistic Team, the cast of over 70 adults and young people have developed their ideas using spoken word, physical theatre, music and movement. The team have drawn from the creativity, enthusiasm and abilities of the membership to make this powerful piece of theatre.

The partnership between Chickenshed Kensington and Chelsea and the Royal College of Music has continued through this project, with musicians from the RCM Sparks programme joining our members on stage.

As part of the Chickenshed’s 40th year celebrations, Once The World Was Here draws upon the music and scripts from previous Chickenshed productions and adds Chickenshed Kensington and Chelsea’s unique twist to create this thought-provoking and moving production.
